Microsoft shutting down more studios they said they would nurture is just a harsh reminder that we can't believe anything these people say. We have look at their actions.
I also wonder whether Microsoft feel like their monopoly is now big enough that they no longer have to worry about bad PR, or their reputation. Because unless their PR team is absolutely incompetent there's no way they didn't know how unpopular this would be. As if they don't care about ruining the (perhaps meager) trust people had in them.
