I've only ever been able to manage Early Access with super freeform stuff like Satisfactory or They Are Billions or such. I respect the purpose of Early Access and totally get how it can be great for devs and players a like but any time I'm enjoying a thing and abruptly ram my face into a sign saying "whoops! This part isn't done yet!" I just die lol

Yeah, exactly. I typically don't want to play games in installments. There are too many others to move on to, so if I can't wrap it up there and then, I might just forget to go back to it.

As I've seen others say, you only get one launch. One chance at the big publicity and hype. Your final 1.0 release might not have the same impact if you already ran early access for 2+ years. There will be some who were waiting for it, and some who hadn't heard of it before, but it won't be the same buzz.

It's a calculated risk for the devs, and hopefully the math works out.
