While it isn't necessarily a bad thing for a protagonist to be humble, I've seen several examples where I feel like the "doesn't realise their own value" concept gets taken too far, and becomes annoying.
Especially when it stops them from doing something that is good not only for themselves, but also the people they care about, and who care about them.
