sometimes wonder what a post-internet AU would be like. not like a post-apocalyptic setting, but if the internet passed away early on like a fad, or if it was shut down deep into its lifespan after being deemed too expensive to run, while other technologies continued to develop. would that be an interesting premise at all? i feel like it's too tame by itself for something like story worldbuilding, but as someone who's essentially exclusively lived in the internet age it's weird to think about.
