rss feeds are actually kinda magical once you get it working. finding out sites like mastodon and wordpress just have it built into every website is like. wow i can just have a timeline of 5 different websites in one app??? might be too powerful for me, actually...

yeah i really hope rss takes off properly sometime soon, it sounds like a really good idea?? being able to aggregate info from multiple different services without having to engage with each and every website/app and deal with their algorithms... or caring about people seeing who you follow or what you retweet
it would help a lot with personal blogs/websites for sure. as soon as a blog isn't accessible from One Of The Services i'm not going to remember to check that (which, come to think, is what made cohost so cozy i think. somehow captured that personal blog chillness while being a service tying all of them together)
i rechosted a poll earlier where the #1 place people are moving to is a personal site/neocities, so a lot of people are planning to use rss feeds to stay up to date with each other
unfortunately afaik neocities doesn't have rss built in, but there might be ways around it (i still need to try openrss)
