this is something i lament about a lot, software giants have no real reason to improve user experience because it's not what they profit from + they have an effective monopoly on their niche (search engine, office suite, messenger/voice call app. I don't have to name them) so users have no choice
free and open source software sounds like it could be the solution except theres precious few that are easy to use and regularly maintained. and there's only so much you can want from mostly nonprofit projects
it just feels so backwards to me that software in general is still so hard to use. im the generation that grew up online and i am doing a software programming major and yet it still takes so long to troubleshoot some issues. guess ill navigate these poorly designed menus and dodge all the flashy animations to futilely look for a setting they might not have even put in
aye, 100% agreed
there's some free/open source peeps doing some amazing work (bless the blender devs) but it's kinda clear that sometimes they're filling in a niche because they HAVE to when it should be the job of bigger developers to make a proper program that's worth its money in the first place
or god forbid we get an OBS situation where some company tries to leech off open source projects :/
