that said I was mostly using it to look up previously obscure music I couldn't find on limewire so this was basically me at the time comic panel of a boy picking up a record sleeve saying "Oh boy! Acid house!"

Wow, as late as 2017... I'm old enough that I remember pre-Google YouTube from back in middle school. It was way more IRL than any other site which a lot of people liked but I didn't. Plus, YouTube videos were limited to 10 minutes, but Google Video let you upload any length, which made it way better for watching pirated content. In the end YouTube won because their comment section was way, way better. Before that, it was all Flash animations on Albino Blacksheep and Newgrounds. eBaum's too but it was the iFunny of the mid 00s.

I was aware of it by the very end of the 2000s but didn't care because I was too busy playing warcraft 3. I started watching french starcraft 2 replay casts in 2010 which I believe was the first time I really got into it.
