Surprised I've been able to sit down and actually Get Into a game again for the first time in a long time. Settled on replaying through a few of the Bioshock games again lately, mostly just for achievement hunting stuff. Been a good time to just revisit these titles and see what's still fun, years later. But this chost isn't about my thoughts on any of that.
I have inadvertently activated Hell Mode.
I was almost immediately in tears by how fuckin funny this glitched audio sounds. The game is already so utterly heavyhanded with the religious and rhetoric nonsense, and turning the voice acting into This is just. so so funny to me. What's better is that the bug affects ALL audio in the game: the only exceptions I've experienced so far are the kinetoscope things and vigor minicinematic descripto-mabobs. It downpitches, warps, or otherwise fucks up
e v e r y t h i n g.
Picking up silver eagles sounds like shattering glass.
Fireworks sound like angry cats.
Ravens sound like Strange Dogs.
I said I've been doing achievement hunting, and I've customarily begun my playthrough(s) with a single "fast" run through the respective game on easy mode just to reacquaint myself with the basics before diving in. I've already finished 100% of Bioshock 1 and 2, and I think finishing Infinite's 1999 mode with its extra achievement is gonna be one of the more time-consuming things I've done so far in the series; I remember Some Time Ago when I tried doing this before, but fell off before I finished. I did not encounter this audio glitch on my easy playthrough of Infinite, but it did happen at the very start of my 1999 game1. Given its timing, I'm determined to replicate2 this bug for the rest of this playthrough: having Deeply fucked up audio is gonna make this experience several times more enjoyable. Instead of having to listen to Comstock or whoever for the fifth time, prattling on about saviors or whatever, I can instead grace my ears to. uh. whatever this is.

I happened to encounter this glitch at the exact same location this video takes place at: directly before the baptism, at the point where you walk up to it. I was very grateful to see someone else had documented the exact same thing that I experienced\was hearing; had some Strong feelings to capture the audio on my own because it was just too funny to pass up.

For those whom it may concern: my experience with causing this glitch was by alt-tabbing out of the game, switching my audio output source from headphones to speakers, and then going back into the game. Pretty simple, hoping it winds up being as easy to replicate as it was to trigger the first time. Replicating bugs is easy to do, right?
