fun facts about the good doctor:

  • he's 579 years old in that photo, and he don't look a day older than 300
  • head to tail-tip, he's a good 50' long, has two armwings up in the front there with functional (if not unwieldy) hands, a big set of wings in the middle bit, and leggy wings on the back end, with fans of feathers down 'is tail along the rest
  • his hoard item is information, and he's amassed a library of over 9 million separate titles, not including private diaries and journals, scrolls, calendars, and untranslated slabs (in this universe, humanity has not yet reached the digital age)
  • geddit? he's a bookwyrm
  • the Seiali Library, a structure he had custom built to house his hoard, is a functional public lending library, also became his home after he grew too large to inhabit most structures built for human inhabitants.
  • he's a compulsive reader; he just itches to read anything near him he's not read before
  • he's actually got a fairly poor memory for most things, and started keeping journals as a fledgling to combat this
  • as a result, he's responsible for the single largest autobiographical work in history by a landslide
  • he loves learning and teaching, so he lets the local college use his hoard freely
  • he's traveled the world countless times, studying on every continent hundreds of times each
  • he got his PHD in Linguistics practically on accident, he sat as substitute once for the class on a study day with little effort, but realized that he could teach the course after reviewing the material the class was working on
  • the students ask him endless questions about everything
  • he loves it so much he made it his job, and takes great pride in being able to answer pretty much everything they toss at him
  • some dragons just want to watch the world learn

All of the books he lends are given with one of his own feathers as a bookmark. He always knows, somehow, where each of his feathers is, so it's a reliable way to find lost books. He could just glue them in, yeah, but he likes the element of trust. His scales work the same way, but they don't fit in books very well.
