Still a little strange sometimes

So our bedroom door has two of the 3 hinges out with fully stripped screws. The last one is hanging tight but obviously I'd like to get this fixed. Our landlady has been having a ton of trouble getting a handyman in, so at this point I'm wondering if I should just offer to do it myself (and ideally ask for money off in rent in return). I haven't rehung a door before, but looking it up, the process seems pretty simple:

  • drill out the holes with a 3/8" bit
  • fill in the holes with 3/8" dowels and wood glue
  • let set a day
  • drill 1/8" pilot holes
  • drill the hinge back in

So my question is, is this simple or are there obvious pitfalls? I already own a drill with 3/8" and 1/8" bits, and while I'd have to buy the dowels and wood glue that'd be no problem. The hinges were set into the doorframe so I have a really easy guide for re-hanging them, so it seems fairly easy. I'd just let my landlady get a handyman for it but we told her about this in uhhh early December, and at this point she's asking if we know any, so if it's easy enough I figure I'd offer (I'd let her know I haven't done it before and allow her to turn me down if she doesn't want to, of course, it's her door)

That's what I was thinking. I'm decently handy and looking up the process online it seems pretty easy, but just wanted to double-check so I don't end up making a mess of someone else's condo, lol
