I have realised that I have very little time or patience for people who perfunctorily hate on the weapon degradation system in BotW and ESPECIALLY now in TotK. We've only just left tutorial town and we are so damn twisted with swords that the weapon degradation isn't actually keeping up we are constantly having to drop weapons to make room for shiny new ones that we can stick weird shit on. I would rather get that sweet double damage on break and pick up the weapons that enemies drop then have to just keep ditching perfectly good weapons to make room.

Also Vicas and I killed some black horriblins in hyrule castle during the initial main quest visit (utterly terrifying and thrilling at 4 hearts and OHKO territory lol) and they drop bits that give +22 attack to a weapon and if we just had that weapon forever then we would destroy the next like 5+ hours of the game. The degradation system lets the game reward you for fighting above your weight or sneaking into a later area with better weapon chests/drops without completely destroying any sense of challenge or progression. It's almost like, gasp, good game design.

Also saw this tweet hating on it that said that "Fromsoft have built a rep for the best rpg combat in the business without equipment degradation." Which. Uh. I'm sorry, that is just, like, wrong??? Souls games do have weapon durability??? It's also done worse than in BotW and TotK so lol lmao

As someone who was critical of it in BotW, I don't really understand people saying it's worse now. You don't have to rely on finding a good weapon and being in a prolonged drought if you don't happen to come across any for a while, you can just make one when you need it. Don't need to try to hang onto a sledgehammer wasting an inventory slot, just find a rock. Moblin got hands? You got spear-spear.

Also it's the funniest possible way to address complaints so I have to support it.

I didn't like it in BotW, but in TotK it finally clicked? Maybe it's the fact that I have so much control over what my weapons are with Fuse that I finally stopped caring if I only found crappy weapons. Also bokoblin arms being real easy to get and giving a +20 whenever rules even if they have crap durability.
