daily knowledge: one of the characters that the jim henson company created prior to sesame street, while they were still heavily into the commercial business, was the la choy dragon.

on top of promoting the la choy brand of chow mein, which he claimed was as crisp as the takeout kind since it was QUICK COOKED IN DRAGON FIRE, he would generally fuck shit up when he was on screen. it was a unique challenge for henson and his team to nail down the dragon's fire breathing effect, but for the 1960s, i think they did a good job.

This ad is more entertaining than most videos you skip the ads to watch

Basically every Henson ad from the 60s I've ever seen is delightful, you can really feel their local TV roots even as they became more and more of a phenomenon

It's the 60s version of the Darmine Doggy Door:

When you can't sleep and you see that thing, you're not just right away, "That's a dude in a costume." You're like, "That's gonna kill me. That's real. That lives on Earth."

I thought I was gonna get eaten! I'm not a stupid fսckin' idiot. I know it was just a costume. But for 50 seconds, it felt really real. And when your first thought is, "Great, don't have to go to work tomorrow," you're relieved because you thought you were gonna get eaten? What the fսck is this world?
