He's a loser who pervs on girls kind of as a running joke, but, ultimately, I found he kinda grew on me. He has more of a character arc than most of your party members: he struggles both with Strega's point that if the Dark Hour goes away he won't be special anymore and the fact that he's playing second fiddle to you, a girl. His sexist posturing kinda loses its bite when he's saying it to you, a girl, one of his best friends, and you get the option to rib him for it. He improves as a person and even meets a Goth GF for his troubles. It's a likeable character arc where all the pieces fit pretty well.
But, you know, basically all of that really hangs on the FeMC part. Playing the male route now, and even knowing most of the lines are basically the same, it really does feel a lot worse, because he's not jealous of you for sexist reasons (and therefore confronting them and growing as a person when he gets over them), and when he's saying pervy shit about girls it's to his weirdo guy friend, which kinda just makes him another sad dude who sees girls as an alien species.
And it's kind of amazing how, despite the fact that you're playing a silent, blank slate protagonist, the gender you pick at the start of the game utterly changes the tone and subtext of his character, at least for me
