Unfortunately it seems like Simland has decided that Noob marrying his boss was a no-go for them continuing to work together and his beau been replaced as Chief. Oh well, at least he got a dog and stacks of cash out of the marriage.
And thus Noob hatched a new very good not at all bad plan for more supplemental income. He adopted a female dog to go with his new male dog and has become a dog breeder, selling the pups to the adoption agencies. This is as ethical as you can expect from a Police Lieutenant.
But he's also more than 25% of the way towards his goal! Hooray for Noob!
Noob is very close to his goal now. He's rank 9 at his job, a Police Colonel. Having absolutely no skills whatsoever is not a hindrance at all. He's at over $250k saved up now.
He did sell a few more puppies, but it wasn't particularly lucrative and it resulted in a hefty +4 sad mood to his dog loving husband so he abandoned that in favour of growing more "dragonfruit". He gets $2500 a plant a day, which is batshit money. Completely breaks this challenge in half lol. I'm hoping he'll get to Chief before I pass 400k, he's only a few work days away.
I also got this very funny load screen when the game broke (it had Noob leave a community lot without me somehow, so he was at home and I couldn't join him without going out to manage worlds lol). OK.
Noob made it to Police Chief and then sold enough dragon fruits to complete the scenario. The reward was just a whole bunch of satisfaction points but the true reward was the journey.
I really liked this one, it's so different to how you would normally play the game. The only thing about it is that I'm not sure how you make 400k without marrying rich/breaking gardening/certain expansion packs. See, normally you need level 5 gardening to get grafting to make dragon fruit. But I have City Living and that adds festivals like the spice festival where I managed to snag some dragon fruit and you can plant them without having any gardening skill. If you're in base game, you don't have the cop job which is Get To Work exclusive. Apparently the Seasons expansion can also break this challenge in half, but I don't have that one.
Noob still can't learn any skills btw. I thought maybe they'd make him a normal sim after the challenge but he's still Noob McNoskills, police chief.
Overall a great time. I will go back to my 6 gen family for a bit but I've really enjoyed playing this scenario and blogging it. There are a couple of other scenarios that seem fun, like Aliens Stole My Parents where you have a teen who has to raise their younger siblings without any adults in the household. It's another scenario that is really hard to make happen in base game, since the game doesn't let you make a household without an adult. But for now, I'm slowly marching on to 10 generations.
