I've finally finished and framed it, the work I've hinted at for way too long now is done! It's a bunch of the special dream eaters from Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance :)
The story behind this is that one day a few years ago I was looking through my old 3DS case and I found these Augmented Reality Cards. This was a hilariously short-lived gimmick of the 3DS having this AR Games app that made mini-games using cards. It was, really silly.
But a handful of games made some cards for this feature, including the original 3DS version of Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance. I bought that game years ago and it came with a couple of cards, including this really lovely one of special cameo dream eaters.
So when I came across this card (after having played DDD in Kingdom Hearts 2.5), well, I loved the design of it. I often frame post cards and put them on the wall as decoration but the AR card is just playing card size, it's too small. So I got the idea of stitching a bigger version of it. I went waaaaaay too ambitious, this stitch is 6x9 inches on 18 count aida, it's over 17000 stiches big. I have stitched it on and off for years, it often hung incomplete on its hoop on my wall taunting me.
But it's done, I made a real tear on it in the last few weeks and I got it done. I made a black mat and bought a white frame to match the card and now it can finally hang on my wall completed now.
