Also here’s a bit on the snawfus, one of my personal fav critters.
The snawus is a folklore creature found in various tales of the Ozarks. It’s said to be a white deer with flowering trees for antlers, and not always but sometimes said to have wings that it uses to jump into the trees. The antlers are variously described as dogwood, apples that had been grafted to it, or plums which came from a hunter shooting it with plum seeds. Like many white deer tales the snawfus is a creature that eludes those hunting the deer, seeming to survive or dodge shots.
It is said the snawfus exhales a blue-ish smoke, that becomes the mist that hangs over the Ozarks in cooling weather.
