Okay so this is a bit more on a meta perspective, but I think this is how I'm going to handle some of her more powerful punnings to keep her from being able to just "go go gadget godhood" her way to victory in every fight.
One that I think is unlikely to work again is the "time flies" joke in New Heights (who hasn't heard that joke? the only reason it worked was because Hellen thought she was about to die with that as the last thing in her brain), which is definitely one of the single most powerful abilities Ellen has ever held, but also a definitive proof of concept that she can get some absolutely broken combo nonsense going.
Unfortunately I don't have any new examples to whip up at this exact moment... partially because if I did, I'd want to hold onto them for later stories, and also because I'd have to establish some really specific conditions first ;P
