I feel like there's a lot to ask here- but I guess I'll just start with; so you're living alone and I'm guessing don't have any family in the area to potentially fall back on?

I know people generally idealize having your own place, but it seems really unsustainable these days unless you have damn well paying employment or come from money...

Yeah, my mother moved out and away from me when I was 19. Have no other family (No dad/Grandparents/Aunt or Uncles etc.) I've lived alone since but it's only gotten worse and worse anymore. I've never had a room-mate and I'm terrified of looking locally as a trans woman in the Midwest (who owns too many sex paraphernalia to hide away) especially with the laws passed around here.

It's not an easy situation. I do have Medicaid and help from a Therapist and an IHS, but they can't directly assist of course, just guide. Going to try visiting a local FEC and see what happens this week.

As much as some people adamantly insist doing otherwise, I've found the only good roommates I've had were friends beforehand. The trick is it's gotta be friends who can be trusted thoroughly and who can be mature. And you've gotta be sure to give each other space in the day to day.

Understood! Sadly, most of my friends live half the country or further away from me. But I won't give up hope yet
