Hey folks! Big announcement, I'M STARTING A COMPUTER CLUB! This is gonna be a membership funded, IRL place in Harbord Village, Toronto where you can come and hang out, work on projects, drink yerba mate soda (if you want) and generally learn and discuss computery topics.

It's called the Queer Computer Club!

We've secured a lease, but we're not open yet. Stop by our beta website where you can sign up for our newsletter to hear when we're open!

We're also on the fediverse!

They've devised possibly the worst monetization strategy I've ever seen. Desperate to steal some of the AAA revenue from the likes of Genshin/Pokemon (who iirc are both built on Unity and would be affected) whilst not caring how much this will damage AA game companies and ultimately destroy their Indie user base.

As a long-time Godot dev and advocate, I'm excited that this might get more Indie devs over to the platform I love that's not controlled by corporate greed. But I'm also objective enough to realise that for larger scale projects, the likes of Unity offered robust tools that I can only see AA and AAA moving to Unreal for; which would be not great for a lot of reasons.

I was absolutely baffled by the decisions Unity are making until I remembered that their CEO is so bad they were fired from EA. I dread the fallout that's going to come from all this and feel terrible for all the devs who have sunk years of their lives into learning a tool that's now harmful for them to use.

But like legit, this is the most spiteful, evil, misguided and anti-creative thing I've seen in years and I just hope it doesn't catch on somehow.
