I keep seeing people complaining about [recent Star Wars thing] because it contradicts canon or something and I can't help but wonder if these Star Warsheads are even that old of Star Wars fans because back in my day EU material (now "Legends") wasn't even that afraid of contradicting what the core movies said occasionally.
In fact I kinda liked that about the old EU. Yes there was still one overarching continuity but EU material was still permitted to mess with the settings and characters like action figures in playsets rather than how rigidly built the newer EU feels built to me. Suits the whole "sci-fi fairy tale" thing better, where it has like 15 different interpretations of the same event depending on who the author at the time is.
