FINISHED ANOTHER GAME
so, Haven
you play as Yu and Kay, a couple who fled their oppressive society in order to be together on an abandoned planet
this one's neat; an update in 2022 added female Kay and male Yu, so you can play them as a same-sex couple. gameplay largely consists of sliding around the world, clearing corruption ("Rust") from the islets, fighting as a duo (with special combination attacks and the ability to shield one another), and choosing dialogue options
Yu and Kay are incredibly charming, have a very active sex life, and getting invested in the quirks of the pair as individuals and as a team is so, so easy. the gameplay is a little repetitive at times, but the chatter and beautiful scenery goes a long way to mitigate that, and the drama of their situation never feels heavier or lighter than it should be, and I LOVED the endings
that said, this game does get heavy from time to time, and i can't recommend it to anyone that can't handle that heft; one of the early dialogue options, for example, includes a discussion of suicide (although it's never brought up again afterward), and the pair are fleeing their respective forced arranged marriages
i adored this game
annnnnd now i'm back to seeing what's available to me on the PS+ freebies list
