Maybe, but I still prefer my own joke interpretation of Gex: somebody who loudly and genuinely (no self-interest on their part) considers themselves an LGBTQ+ ally, despite their understanding of the LGBTQ+ community being exactly the same as it was in the 90s.
I remember times before the last 8 years of being out and immediately presenting, and fuck, I was such a chode before. Gex would have looked a saint next to me
