cantonese allows "t" and i guess it's possible it's in some older or nonstandard transliteration method.

i can’t believe that Xing Ped, hero of the crosswalk, was also mixed race!

Okay, so in first or second grade, real young, there was another kid who thought a xing was a type of rabbit, because in one of the classroom's windows there was a yellow sign with a silhouette of a rabbit and the word "XING" under it, and that became one of my core memories.
