I read a lot of jokes, goofs, and gags, all in the course of social media, reading other writers' work, and having stuff sent to me directly, and as a general piece of advice to my aspriring chucklesters,
brevity really is the soul of wit! Trying to tack on smaller goofs immediately after a big goof is like an acrobat trying to tack on additional steps after they stuck the landing: either you need those added goofs to keep escalating or you need to stop and hold for the audience to laugh and then move on.
Don't use 75 words on a 15-word joke!
