Over on the bird website, I posted a whole pile of uniquely Space Station 13 bugs that I've discovered or been around for while developing for Goonstation.

These were originally posted as replies to a Jason Grinblat tweet asking for weird bugs to use in his talk "Before you Fix a Leak, Ask if it's a Fountain." Some of them have turned up on The Strange Log over the years as well.

  • Cloaking devices make the user invisible, but were also rendering them deaf. It was discovered that you couldn't hear when invisible because when you're invisible, sounds can't see you.
  • Due to the way that the game tracked living, stunned and dead states, using a taser on a corpse would reanimate them.
  • At one point all cyborgs that spawned at the start of the round would mysteriously dump a pile of human organs on the floor beneath them. It was determined that those organs belonged to the human player before the game decided to turn them into a cyborg.
  • There used to be lot of lag generated by the fact that instead of the clown checking to see if it had clumsily fallen over once a tick, every floortile in the game world checked to see if the clown had fallen over it.
  • The time one refrigerator in the kitchen silently duplicated chicken nuggets infinitely at initialization grinding the server to a halt under their sheer volume.
  • And finally, when due to a change in the way we processed audio, enough players farting simultaneously completely locked up the server and we had to restart.
