Wake up to find my artwork has done severals, and numbers elsewhere. Which definately takes the sting out of yesterday's defeat. It didn't get as much favourites as my gas mask pic on FA, but it certainly was an ice-breaker getting more comments.
Which does make the numbers interesting beccause is it good that people like something but never talk about it, or the inverse, it gets people talking but people hold-off on liking it? What's to be said that my number of views compared to the number of watchers? There's a difference of roughy five-hundred, are they dead, inactive, or moved to a different account or site altogether, maybe they only check once a week, or a month, or even a year.
I took evening classes in marketing, and have a background in statistics from studying forensic toxicology. So numbers are interesting to me, and I've gotten over the pitfall that 'numbers represent self-worth' they do not, but all I can think of is how numbers are a count-up to disaster. I'm getting incrementally more eyes on my work, its travelling further, people are seeing it and forming opinions about me, I am being known.
Somewhere down the line, I am going to make or say something that'll have people turn against me, and its going to be worse because I've just been adding more tinder to the pyre. This isn't a fear over 'getting cancelled' this is just the realistic assessment that you can't do anything long enough to get big without getting haters.
