Everyone posting their Friends at the Table (10 year) anniversary thoughts had me thinking of fandom and my relationship to it. It struck me a while ago that I listen to Friends at the Table less like a serial narrative podcast and more like following a sports team. I mark out when a player pulls off some exciting play (an incredibly divorced conversation, a clever application of game mechanics, an impactful death), and I might complain when they're losing (not making a good show), but ultimately I'm here because I just like watching the team do what they do.
