it's kinda beautiful that cohost gets to have an ending. most websites don't you know. most websites just slowly trundle off, with userbases diminishing or webmasters becoming occupied with other endeavours. think of how many pages you know where they over time just slowly stopped updating. no big notice, just bookmarks in a folder that become less visited over time.

i'm not happy to see the site go, but i am contented seeing everyone share their memories of what made this place special, reflecting on the ways the site failed and definitely should have done better on, sharing laughs for the last time, and uttering heartfelt pleas. one last breath of open communication before it all goes dark. it's a lot more than most of the places i've spent my life in.

so to cohost, i say hello, goodnight.

Ellen's hand rested on her hip, the taller of the twins pushing an exasperated sigh through her lips.

"Vix... we can hardly afford to feed us," she protested. "I... he's cute, but..."

Vixie pouted, fingers wrapping around the creature's maroon exterior as it wiggled - not to escape, but apparently in an attempt to get comfortable. It looked pleased enough to be in Vixie's soft arms, at least.

"B... b-but..."

Ellen's eyebrows tensed and moved, inching this way and that as she considered. Finally, she sighed once more - this time, in defeat.

"Fine, you can keep him. But... you can't let him get in the windows. I don't think the landlords will let us take care of a... weird... egg-shaped bug thing if they know. And I'll need to pick up an extra shift each month to feed him."

"B-but... Ellen, he d-doesn't need us t-to buy food for him! H-he eats chosts!"

Ellen frowned.

"I'm sorry, Vix. They stopped making chosts. He's gonna have to learn to like Friskies."

The eggish bug glanced up at Vixie, then to Ellen and back again.

"Uhm... w-would that be all right, M-Mister Eggbug? Th-they're actually pretty g-good if you try them!"

Eggbug nodded, and that was that.
