birding is one of those things where lots of normal people are good at it but only weirdos and freaks are great at it

I have a symbiotic relationship with a freak friend where I send her pictures of birds like "whoa look what I saw today!!!" and she very supportively texts back "wow! great sighting! that is a house sparrow"
LMAO it's very important to be encouraging no matter what birds i am sent because i want to stoke curiosity and get people excited to engage with nature.
