at some point in my life i realized that all the people with the most discerning taste in music were kids. everyone with an axe to grind against a beloved band or popular genre was one of my twenty-something peers. trying on vapid opinions like hats. decrying hot trends in a pitch to prove that we were autonomous. meanwhile the sages whose tastes i really admired — the musicians, the record store owners, the audio producers — simply loved music.
