if i ever tell you to touch grass a monoculture lawn does NOT count!

touching grasses should be native to your local habitat. wild grasses are preferred, but native ornamentals grown in xeriscaped yards will be accepted until further notice.

invasive wetland reed grasses such as phragmites australis and reed canary grass are also discouraged.

"Xeriscaped yards" is such an odd concept to me. Not because I'm so insistent on monoculture grass I can't conceive of anything else, but because the idea of watering your lawn is weird to me. Watering here is for stuff in pots or greenhouses and sometimes food plants in garden beds, everything else just soaks up rain. I get that different places have different climates and all but still.
