i just remembered ! TEK - 'traditional ecological knowledge.' thats an entire indigenous led field of study, and its definitely what youre looking for. i dont have a specific book rec for that, i guess we can both read more, haha

You might want to take a look at the book “Braiding Sweetgrass” by Robin Wall Kimmerer. One of the main points the book makes is that humans can be actively beneficial to ecosystems we interact with. Its a matter on living in good relation to the environment, not about the number of humans that are alive.
