it's an old story from SomethingAwful, where a guy wanted to build a zipline that would accelerate the user to 100 km/h with no way to stop them reliably
See Dan Olson's thread on the topic: https://twitter.com/FoldableHuman/status/1018965087074177024
TECHNICALLY he wanted to build a nice, safe ride for a kids' summer camp
What he ended up building was the DeathLine
The best part is the constant attempts to salvage the thing instead of just ripping it down
Every time a new person finds out about the RIPLine, an angel gets its wings.
The Machine To Kill Children
IIRC it was real and the goon did post an update on Twitter or somewhere many years later. RIPline was never used as intended, the owner eventually sold the camp and the original receiving tower became the launch tower for much smaller ziplines that were appropriate for kids to not die on.
This should be a B plot that happens over the course of Southern Monsters.
