been having a genuinely good time with the new cyberpunk 2077, and a huge part of that is because having already started it before, i know what i'm getting into in terms of the writing. so i can appreciate the stuff i like and tune out the stuff i think sucks ass. but way more importantly, they let you get a double jump much earlier and the airdash if you upgrade your reflexes feels INCREDIBLE. like yeah there's lots of good character work here, yeah some of these side missions are wack, fuckin true. sure. but mostly i am just FLYING around this city and solving every combat encounter by jumping forty feet and slicing a guy's head off. and if i can do that and it feels good you have to go out of your way to make me not like a game

as someone who has also been really enjoying the cyberpunk (re?)release, it's a pleasant surprise that the combat has stayed consistently fun, compared to it being such a chore when i played through the whole game in 2021. being able to refund perks at will adds a lot of fun brainstorming about what flavour of absurd bastard to be. ditching health items and just making them cooldowns really tightens up the combat loop.
phantom liberty also kicks ass in that it's basically a direct continuation of the most interesting story beats in the base game
