Horses truly are one of the worst put together animals in existence. Big L for evolution there.
i think that might be less on evolution and more on human-directed breeding tbh. certainly didn't do great things for some dog breeds
Not as much as you might think- humans made them bigger and did some weird things to show arabians, but that digestive system that routinely kills them? The sugar response that causes their feet to fall apart (killing them)? That's all evolution.
Yeah exactly, humans made it worse but horses have been a mess of terrible design decisions for much longer than we've been at it. There's a really funny tumblr post about it: "TL;DR: Horses don’t have enough toes and that makes them very, very fast, but also sickly, structurally unsound, have wildly OP blood that sometimes kills them, and drives them fucking insane."
