this weekend I did watch Senseless (1998) written by Craig Mazin, one of the creators of The Last of Us, about a guy who takes a drug that enhances all his senses, but then he takes too much and can only use four of his senses at a time. I am now going to assume that these two projects are exactly the same, which means that the show must have a winning turn by Matthew Lillard and pretty much no other redeeming qualities.

If we did a reverse adaptation and were making Senseless into a video game I imagine the central gameplay would be similar to Metroid Prime 3: Corruption where you would have to use the super sensory drug to overcome tasks but if you used too much it would force you into a mode where you drop random senses, so all of a sudden the screen would go black or something. However, I would insist the stakes remain the same as the movie so you would still need to, like, pledge to a fraternity and go to a Knicks game with Rip Torn. Patrick Ewing stalks you through Madison Square Garden but without your sense of hearing cause you overdid it on the Seduce Tamara Taylor mission he easily sneaks up on you. I suspect like The Last of Us this would quickly become the go to example of art as video games, so if anybody wants to steal this idea it is yours (minus film rights, that one you'll have to talk to Penelope Spheeris about).
