I'm very admirative of monochromatic artworks, it amaze me how well some artists are capable of conjuring such an intense sense of scale, depth, texture and flow. Such thoroughness with a single shade to communicate it is fascinating to me.
I've been thinking about this a lot while reading "Witch Hat Atelier" lately, I hope one day I'll be able to do the same in my own way.
