Cute, capable, funny snake artist.

The internet's favorite cartoon snake. A real cutie patootie. One of those guys who's real good at lots of things but not perfect at any one thing.

When the game launched I roasted the absolute fuck out of it for having a terrible skill floor. A Nasty new-player experience, and generally just being a bad time. Shortly after the developers informed us that they intended to make a difficult game to challenge players, but they might've gone too hard.

If you scroll through the patch notes to date there's hardly a one that doesn't include creating further accessibility and downtuning the difficulty. Even their winter DLC drop announcement mentions that they're still tuning things to make it palatable.

I don't intend to be smug, or advocate for all-casual all-the-time gaming, but Garfield Kart has a healthier playerbase right now.

If anything, I think this serves as a warning. Make sure you're reaching outside your hardcore niche market. Make sure you're getting outside eyes on your challenges. It's entirely possible to get lost in your own sauce and make a mess instead of a hit video game.

The retrospective I forgot I needed. Fascinating to see how this title has aged thus far, even if it hasn't even been a year. Still prefer the first one, dunno if this sequel can ever capture me quite the same way.
