The internet's favorite cartoon snake. A real cutie patootie. One of those guys who's real good at lots of things but not perfect at any one thing.

I've been nursing a bottle of vanilla aftershave lotion for literal years and it's finally running low. So maybe it's time to change it up a bit! I don't know anything about body chemistry or smells or whatever, so go off if you do.

I'd also love to hear from folks with breathing problems, as I'd like to not kill asthmatics before contact. However the primary goal is to stink real nice the next time I meet anyone wearing programmer socks.

I know the bog standard man scents are like. Cinnamon, bay rum, sandalwood, but what do people actually like? as opposed to just what's marketed? Male self care stuff's advertising can basically not be trusted in a vacuum.

I only really have personal mantras I follow. I use a basic aftershave (Harry's Post-Shave Balm) without a huge amount of scent. For me, I want my scent to come from the specific cologne I'm using so it's consistent and under my control. Especially since I have a cologne for each of three slots: Clean-smelling (refreshing or soap-esque), Sporty-smelling (a little spicier but still "clean" on the nose), and Going-Out...smelling (more punchy, fruitier and/or woodier notes; more classic "men" smells.) I don't have personal experience, but I feel like aftershaves can follow similar routing?

I've personally received most complements on the Sporty-smelling colognes I've worn. Most notably, the Lacoste White, which has mainly woody and citrus notes (https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Lacoste-Fragrances/Eau-de-Lacoste-L-12-12-White-11043.html). So I'd push you towards those scents in whatever you can find via aftershaves. A bit harder since they don't seem as neatly documented. Some colognes do have aftershave versions of them though, so maybe you can find a cologne and match the aftershave as well (e.g. https://www.ebay.com/itm/304110231227?chn=ps&mkevt=1&mkcid=28&srsltid=AfmBOopRsuw-MMO4f8vxo4crt6CXaOsUBE-BW9cNfwfR1nImngg1wJBhtSw)
