The internet's favorite cartoon snake. A real cutie patootie. One of those guys who's real good at lots of things but not perfect at any one thing.

I see posts around here fairly regularly about keeping places like this unmarketable, untouchable to vulture capital, and just outright weird. Usually this follows with an exhortation to furries to keep doing their thing, which... I dunno, c'mon. It's not up to furries to be the load bearing horny on the internet, now. Everybody's got something they're weird for, it's okay to own that.

What I think that furries do generally manage to convey in spaces like this - where it matters, if you will - is that their particular brand of horny is genuine. It's what tends to get skipped over in proud, strident posts demanding we keep a place weird; that weirdness needs to come from a genuine place, it needs to be real, and brother, that's where I think the more permissive and generally 'out there' furry culture comes to the fore because people do not give much of a fuck if you think their thing's weird.

You can post that you want a footjob from an eighty foot tall dragon train pool toy, but you've gotta mean it.

affirmation for people who broiled their brains in online political discourse: it is not necessary for the average person to have a vision for utopia with all the practical details fully worked out and a step by step plan for how this would be enacted. that is not a normal prerequisite to hold over yourself or others before having any opinions about anything.

even on a much more personal level this is a good thing to release yourself from

"I want this."
"How are you going to get it?"
"Idk, I didn't say I'm going to get it right this second, I said I wanted it."

give yourself permission to want a better life even if you don't have a perfectly airtight plan to achieve it. the "who's gonna pay for it" conversation comes after the clarification of needs and hopes, it doesn't pre-empt it

I'm starting to think that if we just teach media literacy to kids at a young age conservatism will disappear, because one of the things I've seen that's true of every single conservative in the United States is that they are all horrible at media literacy

"Silent Hill 3 is a conservative game, it aligns to my views". Oh, the game about a young woman trying to escape from fundamentalists who want to use her body against her will, and it ends in her literally aborting God? Yeah, that's probably a right wing game, sure. Weird hill to die on, but at least you're dead.
