this is because, for some reason, indigenous american beliefs are always true in all fictional settings. if a character has so much as a single indigenous great-great-great-great-great-great-grandparent then they will have straight up magical powers, and moreover no one is surprised by this, it is just accepted as an obvious birthright. i am pretty sure john redcorn could lift a truck with his mind if he wanted to
