Saw this tweet, realized how "lucky" I was with my parking situation at my old corporate software engineering job in NOLA.
I was lucky when I worked in NOLA to get a parking garage spot that only cost a day and a half of worth of work a month. Between that and gas I think I worked 4 days a month just for the privilege of commuting to work. Then came the bills, and the money I was setting aside for college expenses. Apartments in the city were(and still are) too expensive to cover the difference in commuting expenses, and even the suburban apartments are way overpriced. I lived with my parents, it was the only way to make it work.
