Saw this on a Steam thing today. I know it's nothing new, but gods the longer I look at this, the worse it gets. This is the first achievement to show up under locked achievements, which means it's the one that the most people have - the next highest is 81% for a fairly trivial gameplay achievement - and it frustrates me to no end.

See, I love achievements in games. I know there are people who hate that it feels like a checklist of what to do, but I've never seen achievements as a limit. FF9's card game has minimal achievements attached, but I've still spent countless hours lately maxing out card stats because I find it fun. Achievements are a way to show something for the time you're already investing, and can give ideas of things to do beyond what you'd normally consider (or find), and I love that.

This? This is not an achievement. This is on the level of "open the game" as an achievement for all the work it takes. And I don't even mind in-app purchases - hell, I've played TCGs for most of my life, those are the most lootbox-driven games imaginable - but this is one of the most blatantly predatory ways to push them, and it frustrates me more seeing that this clearly works. I know full-well, as someone who loves grinding achievements, that there are too many people who will pay solely to have that extra number on their account, especially if they've done everything else, and I hate it.
