I keep seeing that post about not joining Discords going around, and while I appreciate the sentiment - if a Discord is your only option, I'm just going to find something else - my experience is that it's a constant fight to get people to interact with anything. I had people who watched my stream for years who wouldn't get involved ever, making it really hard when I wanted to tailor events and tournaments to my audience.

Yeah, sure, Discord sucks as a resource, but it is good for some things, and like... make sure to actually support things elsewhere then. If something you like has a Discord on top of like 5 other things, use the other things. Don't just complain about the Discord server and ignore the rest.
