You'll likely see news coverage celebrating the fact that the WHO declared the COVID-19 pandemic over, this is an utterly misleading representation of the WHO's statement.

The WHO said the pandemic is over because COVID-19 is now ENDEMIC because we've failed to contain it so spectacularly that it's just something we have to deal with like the flu, which is not good news, it's literally the worst possible news. They actively warned people not to misunderstand and let their guards down because of their statement, which the way their announcement was presented by mainstream media is exactly what people are doing.

For the love of god please be safe out there, every time you catch COVID you're rolling the dice and your odds get worse every time.

the ffp2 standard for face half-masks is approximately equivalent to the n95 standard (although at a 94% minimum aerosol filtration rate compared to the n95's 95% filtration rate), and is probably more available and easier to find within europe compared to masks labeled n95 or kn95. ffp3 might also a (somewhat more expensive) option, with a labeled minimum 99% aerosol filtration

(note that i only found this out earlier today myself, and i've only been able to do some limited reading on this. we're sharing this in good faith and limited knowledge, in hopes of possibly helping others. please correct us if we are wrong.)

Even this is a misstatement! The WHO said that COVID no longer represents a “global state of emergency”, which is a step towards ending the pandemic but does not mean the end of the pandemic.

HIV would be an example of another virus the WHO considers to be an active pandemic but not currently causing a state of emergency.

(I say this not to be argumentative or to “well-actually” you, but to emphasize just how miserable and minimizing their communication is!!)

Yep, ffp2 is roughly n95, and ffp3 is p100, but if you're looking for filters for reusable respirators (like elastometric ones), the ff part is dropped and it's just P2 and P3.

FFP stands for filtering facepiece, while P(n) means particulate filtering at n level (where n is between 1 and 3). There's also other kinds of filtration, but only the P filtering matters for covid safety (to the extent of my knowledge)
