You ask a demon for their number, and they scribble down a ritual on a napkin.
"Spill your blood on this sigil and we can meet later, cutie~"

If you get either wrong, you'll end up getting something you didn't intend to. As such, this analogy seems extremely true.
Imagine telling a demon “oops sorry I think I have the wrong ritual” and they’re just like “oh ye no worries” and leave
Alternatively, they stand there awkwardly for a while, before asking "Are you gonna undo the binding spell then?"
This is part of my anthological headcanon as to the real reason cults in media always end up being betrayed by the demons or other creatures they worship XD
And then if you summon the wrong demon but it's better or still perfectly fine for why you attempted to begin with, it could be awkward and uncomfortable or just a big guffaw, and you both wind up making it work, too. Maybe get the ritual right next time and somehow have two demons on your side.
back ages ago when my sona was a demon, before I had that deep revelation 'bout their nature of being, i'd always joke that they had business cards with their sigil and ritual, as well as a phone number, so this is a whole dang vibe
