I have never read any of the Discworld novels, as it always seemed like an intimidating series to get into cause there are a billion of them. But in my ongoing efforts to read more from the library (which is now back to being fully funded, yay!) I decided to try out the first of them, The Color of Magic, to see if I would like it at all. And boy howdy, am I sad I didn't start this series a decade or two ago. Immediately ordered the second one before I was even finished, I am really excited to really dive in. My favorite character is Death, obviously.

Death is also the one character I had a little grasp on, cause I would see people posting quotes from him on social media and such. Even still, I really wasn't expecting quite the portrayal I got, and I liked it!

The first two books in this series are very rough and experimental, Pterry was still figuring out what he wanted to write about. They're also completely skippable. I usually tell people to start at Guards! Guards! and then go in publication order. But if you actually liked the pilot episode then you're in for a treat, it's all better from there!

I really really really don't know anything about the Discworld series, besides it being a comic fantasy, so I just appreciated getting into the conceit. If it gets more robust all the better, but I thought the road trip movie vibe here was pretty wonderful and I needed a breezy ready anyway.
