Person-first language centers the person, not the identity that makes them weird and uncomfortable to be around. By using person-first language we can all build a more inclusive workplace where we can bring only the socially acceptable parts of ourselves to work.
How do you use person-first language? Please refer to this handy dandy guide. Note that some marginalized folks don’t like being referred to with person-first language - these people are wrong and should be ignored.
