i was walking to a repair shop to pick my car up after an oil change and i saw a little girl selling lemonade outside her house. it was really hot so i stopped, and the girl's mother came out. the little girl was talking about why she was selling lemonade (someone stole her bike D:) as i was looking through my wallet for change, and her mother asked to read my shirt (it said "Transsexuals have got to get meaner"). I figured letting the situation turn awkward was better than being rude, so i pulled my purse strap asside to show the full text, and the mother read it and started laughing! she said there was a trans girl in her daughter's girl scout troop and they all put in a lot of effort to make her feel supported and accepted, and it was the sweetest thing ive heard in a while. filled me with hope hearing that little girls can be trans and find support that we would never have expected for ourselves. we're gonna make it i think.
