<3 it can be hard to resist at times, and i still like to offer grammar advice at least for stuff external facing at work. i mean i complain sometimes, but really the problem is me not them in most cases. i watched a video one time suggesting that spell check and the idea of one right answer is the reason english spelling sucks. we would eventually hammer out the stupid shit if we didn't crystallize the written component of our language while the spoke part evolves.

technically/originally they do have distinct meanings ("alternately" meaning "one after the other") but I think since the two words sound and look almost the same, over time people have used "alternately" when they mean "alternatively", and so it's just taken on that ahem alternative definition
